::THE FOUNDATION & SOM. BAR 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY::

w special guest DJs

DJ NEIL ARMSTRONG & VINROC
It sounds so cliche, but time does fly when you are having fun. We can’t believe that a year has already passed since the inception of The Foundation as well as the grand opening of SOM.

The Foundation was created with one thing in mind, bringing it all back to where it started from – the foundation. A strong foundation is detrimental to the success of everything – from structures, relationships, life and even music. Our goal was to provide you music that had meaning and history. It gave you a sense of fulfillment and brought you to that special place. Good music has content, it told a story and it elevated your emotions. We hope that The Foundation has given you that. We strive to take it to the next level in a musical sense. We wanted to open your ears to a different musical experience. We wanted to bring that feel good feeling back.

Giving you a great experience was our goal in the past as well as in the future. Experience is everything.

We appreciate your support.

Joining us for our 1 year anniversary are 2 very special friends, DJ Neil Armstrong and Vinroc of the legendary 5th Platoon.

::DJ NEIL ARMSTRONG:: Long before he was Jay Z’s tour DJ for all of 2008 and 2009, or a Global Brand Ambassador for Adidas for 2010, Neil Armstrong was a humble, fan of music. And he has never changed…

Acknowledged as the founding father of the DJ Collective the “5th Platoon”, Neil was born and breed in NYC, cutting his teeth in the early 90’s during the era of backpack Hip-Hop and the art of Turntablism. His time spent in the trenches battling and mastering the art of spinning allowed him to rock shows alongside artists across the Hip-Hop spectrum – from De La Soul, The Roots, Company Flow and Biz Markie, to Kanye West, LL Cool J, Busta Rhymes and Wyclef Jean; he was also a member of the critically acclaimed 2 time Grammy -Nominated jazz band – Russell Gunn and Ethnomusicology, playing alongside iconic musicians Kenny Garrett (a member of Miles Davis’ band) and Brandford Marsalis.

Over the last 9 years, he has made an indelible mark in the sub-genre of Hip-Hop known as “Mixtape Culture.” Neil’s highly-regarded mixtapes represent his eclectic music taste and have generated considerable press, most-notably in Rolling Stone, Vibe, MTV.com, Theme, URB and Complex.

And even though he can now been seen in videos with Jay-Z and Mary J. Blige, has spun for adidas at the Olympic Games in Beijing, has shared the stage with Rihanna, Beyonce, Kanye West, Young Jeezy, Swiss Beats, Puff Daddy, Timbaland, Bun B, Memphis Bleek, EPMD, and Method Man, or performed alongside Slayer, Interpol, The Cool Kids, Common, Neil Young, Mark Ronson, Coldplay, NERD, and Linkin Park, Neil is as humble and focused as ever.

::DJ VINROC:: Founder of ThatsThatlabel.com and arguably one of the most versatile Dj/Producers in the US, Vinroc aka Vincent Punsalan, started his career in music at the age of 10. he discovered his passion for music through Djing. Growing up across the river from Manhattan in Jersey City via Queens, he was influenced by the melting pot of music that New York city had to offer. Hip Hop, House, Reggae Dancehall and everything else in between, A former two time world champion Dj , Dj Vinroc relocated to the west coast in 1997 to the Bay Area. Based on the west coast He began working with and performing with some of the most celebrated djs in the music industry: tour dates alongside Dj Z-trip, The Beat Junkies, Kid Kapri, Dj Qbert and Mix Master Mike just to name a few. He has even had the privilege to speak on a dj panel at a hip hop summit with the late Jam Master Jay and flanked by Africa Bambaataa. He has also been featured in numerous publications including urb magazine, the Source, XXL, the cover of Dj times, and rolling stones throughout his career. Vinroc represents two Dj super groups on each coast:5th Platoon from New York City and the Triple Threat Djs from the Bay Area, whose member include celebrated mixtape Dj Neil Armstrong as well as Former ISP member DJ Shortkut . Currently Vinroc is focusing on music production and has had the privelage to do remixes for Talib Kweli , Black Thought of the Roots, Bay area soul siren Goapale, and Souls of Mischief.
