- Go to www.Laney.edu to find information where to take a Free 20 min Rapid HIV Oral Swab test and get a Free Ticket to the HIP HOP for HIV Showcase on April 12 6-9 at Laney College’s Theater
- All performers must register to be able to audition. To register, please call 510-689-3967 or email:hiphop4hiv@gmail.com
- Be prepared to give: your name, college, artist or group name, and song title.
- At least one band member from each group must be a current student from either Laney, Merritt, Berkeley City, Alameda, Chabot, San Francisco, or Contra Costa Community Colleges.
- Each group/artist will be allow to perform only one song for the audition.
- Songs to be performed must be original songs in either Hip Hop, R & B, or Jazz.
- Songs are limited to a maximum of 5 minutes.
- Songs must NOT: contain profanity, use derogatory language toward any group, or promote violence.
- For performers using recorded accompaniment, the track must be submitted in MP3 format via email tohiphop4hiv@gmail.com and jcave@peralta.edu by Thursday, March 22 at 5 PM, and a CD copy must be brought to the audition as well.
- Sound equipment will be provided including a DJ, sound engineer, guitar amp, bass amp, 4 microphones with stands, basic drum set, and keyboard amp on Thursday, April 12th at Laney College.
- Ten (10) finalists will be selected by the judges to perform in the showcase.*
- *KMEL and Laney College do not guarantee that the finalists for the showcase will receive offers from record labels or producers that are attending. The event is meant to raise awareness and funds for HIV/AIDS organizations will giving local talent a chance to be discovered.

- Finalist will be considered for airplay on KMEL’s Turf Program!!!
