Oakland, listen up. This First Friday, August 3rd, Oaklandish will be joined by the unparalleled hip-hop duo Zion I. You won’t want to miss this one.
The Oakland-grown Zion I don’t need much of an introduction. Since they emerged on the Oakland hip-hop scene in the ’90s, these native sons have consistently produced versatile and innovative music. For a preview of Friday night’s festivities, check out their tribute to The Bay.
AmpLive and Zumbi will be accompanied by DJ Vin Roc of Triple Threat DJs. Oaklandish resident DJ Dion Decibels will be on the turntables, keeping the dance party going before and after the live set.
Join us at 1444 Broadway from 7 – 11 for the finest in Oakland music and entertainment. Our friends at Linden St. Brewery and Urban Legend Cellars will be serving up free, locally-fermented drinks. Fivetenburger will be curbside with your favorite burgers, fries and snacks (check our Local Lunch post for an ode to their truffled tater tots).
As always, this event is free and open to anyone with local love in their hearts. But make sure to stop by early because the spot always fills up fast. Zion I are expected to perform around 9:30 p.m. We’ll see you there.
