The Do-Over 2014 San Francisco Sunday September 21

Sunday September 21st, 2014
21+. Noon-7pm. Rain or shine.
Mighty’s Block
Utah Street (between 15th and Alameda)
San Francisco, CA 94103

On Sunday September 21st, The Do-Over, adidas Originals, Flavor Group & Mighty present a follow up to last year’s massive Do-Over Block Party in SF. From the extra positive reviews of past SF Do-Overs, we knew we had keep the levels high and bring the block party vibe back to the Bay Area.

The Do-Over Block Party will run from noon-7pm outside. In true Do-Over fashion, all of our guests will be kept a mystery, but we promise to bring you that extra specialness. Basically, you will not want to miss this one. You can expect the unexpected and the vibes to be as strong as the sangria.

“Best Party on The Planet!” – DJ Jazzy Jeff

There will be plenty of free and safe street parking, food provided by a variety of food trucks, eating areas, full bars & express beer counters, and other local vendors.

Per SF ISCOTT regulation this is a SMOKE FREE EVENT just like all other major street parties in SF. Electronic smoking devices will be permitted.

Entrance to this event will be at the corner of 15th and Utah Sts.

Help us pay homage to the God Father Of Soul JAMES BROWN & to the Afro Beat Pioneer FELA ANIKULAPO KUTI!!!

For the past two decades, Rich Medina has cemented his reputation as an elite DJ, one of few on the planet capable of taking audiences worldwide on a sonic journey through hip-hop, house, soul, afrobeat, funk, breaks and dance classics.  Today, many artists who have been Rich’s idols have become peers, and his fans often become his friends, even if just through the shared experience of music.  Countless couples and relationships were commenced to the soundtracks he has created time and time again.  His eloquence extends well beyond the music he plays—Medina’s spontaneous use of language speaks to the fact that he’s been a well-respected spoken word artist for over a quarter century, not to mention that he’s a journalist who has contributed columns and features to a wide variety of publications, including The Fader, Complex and Wax Poetics.

DJ Spinna is something of an anomaly in music.  A humbling example of what it takes to truly succeed within the framework of multiple fields.  With a steadfast work ethic, an obsessively extensive vinyl library and the willingness to pursue the full extents of his roots (Funk, Soul R&B and Jazz), foundation (Hip-Hop) and future (Electronic/Dance music) without any restraints.  A cornerstone of Hip-Hop’s late 90’s indie-uprise, DJ Spinna made much of his first impression on listeners as the musical background of his group The Jigmastas (having released an impressive slew of 12” singles on his then self-run label Beyond Real during this time) as well as providing the canvats for an array of that era’s lyrical giants including Eminem, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Pharoahe Monch and De La Soul.

No other DJ in the world will ever be a member of the three most innovative and influential DJ crews to ever exist. As a member of the Invisibl Skratch Piklz, Beat Junkies and Triple Threat DJs, Shortkut’s contributions to the DJ world greatly assisted in building this culture into the multi-million dollar industry it is today.  His years of musical experience and unparalleled presence in the national and international circuits exemplifies his passion and dedication to a culture he helped create.

Among other accomplishments, Choc’s lively hosting gigs at Los Angeles hotspots, which include Resident Fridays at Little Temple, The Bridge and NightLife, and Rock The Bells festivals, have made him a national draw for clubs, tours, and events such as, DJ for The Pussycat Dolls, Dilated People’s Evidence, 50 cent Get Rich or Die Trying Album release party, Wyclef’s 2007 Grammy party, A Tribe Called QuestÕs 2005 reunion, Jamie Foxx’s 2004 Super Bowl Party, America’s Best Dance Crew finale 2009 & 2010, George Lopez’s red carpet event for the Lopez Show, J. Dilla’s Nightlife tribute, Roc Raida’s Nightlife tribute, 2011 Critics Choice Awards after party.
