The March 11th 2011 Tohoku earthquake was one of the five most powerful earthquakes recorded in modern history; it claimed the lives of 14,728 people, an estimated 10,000 are still unaccounted for, and tens of thousands are still living in relocation shelters. The subsequent tsunamis triggered nuclear accidents and no one knows for sure how long it will take for the radiation to be contained; many believe that the evacuees from the affected areas will be celebrating this year’s Christmas in the shelters…

There is something, perhaps the only thing, that artists in the Bay Area can do… Rhyme, sing, rock, paint, dance, whatever…to support the recovery of this beautiful country and its people.
Every artist involved in the “Rap for Japan” fundraiser is an esteemed member of our local Hip Hop scene and we are pledging 100% of the proceeds to the Earthquake and Tsunami Fund of the Japan Society of Northern California.
