The Cypher 10 YEAR Anniversary w/ ZION I, Dirtbag Dan, & KFV!

On a cold and dark night in San Jose, December of 2006…
Some DJ’s and MC’s came together to form San Jose’s longest running freestyle open mic.
10 Years, 5 venues later, and countless talents blessing our microphones, and turntables, We celebrate a Decade of underground music in Downtown San Jose.

December 14, 2016 we are proud to bring you:

(< ZION I >)
Zion I released the debut album, Mind Over Matter, in 2000. It was nominated for “Independent Album of the Year” by The Source magazine. The second album, Deep Water Slang V2.0, was released in 2003.
In 2005, Zion I released True & Livin’. It featured guest appearances from Gift of Gab, Talib Kweli, and Aesop Rock.
Heroes in the City of Dope, the first collaborative album with The Grouch, was released in 2006. Zion I released the sixth album, The Take Over, in 2009.
In 2010, Zion I released the seventh album, Atomic Clock. Heroes in the Healing of the Nation, the second collaborative album with The Grouch, was released in 2011.
The duo’s ninth album, Shadowboxing, was chosen by SF Weekly as one of their “10 Best Bay Area Hip-Hop Records of 2012”.

“The best battle rapper you know”
He’s been one ripping mics since his days with ThunderHut and Counter Productive. Part of The Cypher Squad since the beginning.
His stand up comedy and podcasts are hilarious.

It’s hard to fathom an artist like Kung Fu Vampire of San Jose, CA getting his due shine, after all he’s a Hip Hop artist in a pool of MC’s talking about how cool they are, women and money but as it turns out not everyone wants their music that way and KFV has found a great deal of success through maintaining a unique artistic integrity, not caving in to Industry Pressure and giving you his uncensored vision.
One of the OG’s of San Jose, and The Cypher Squad.
