https://i0.wp.com/bandcamp.com/files/36/13/3613494459-1.jpg

Macsen Apollo is proud to release his first solo single and video “Heartbreaks”, off the upcoming album “Matters of the Heart”.

https://i0.wp.com/www.ontherisemagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/macsen2-256x300.jpg

Macsen Apollo, out of Oakland, California has made a name for himself through his long-time rap career. As part of the V.E.R.A. Clique the MC has released two group albums to date and finally started working on his first solo effort in 2010. He has worked with well-known artists such as D’ Wayne Wiggins of Tony Toni Tone, Joe Scudda of Justus League, Dahrio Wonder, APlus & Aagee (Compound 7) of the Heiroglyphics and Souls of Mischief and many more, and has earned respect for his outstanding drive and unique style.

The title “Heartbreaks” ,the first single off the album “Matters of the Heart”, speaks for itself. It is based on a true story about being in love only to find out that it is based on lies and deceit. The Song captivates through its honesty and realness, as well as a distinct beat, produced by Kev Choice. This is not a song just for the ladies, it speaks to every person that has been through the Heartbreak.

The Song was released digitally today, January 11th 2011, along with a video and can be purchased via www.MacsenApollo.com.The album “Matters of the Heart” is set to come out March 2011 and will be available on iTunes and many other online stores.

From SF Streets “everything has started from skateboarding” Video

RIP Micheal “Eyedea” Larsen

https://i0.wp.com/farm4.static.flickr.com/3479/3748917749_46851c0a4e_z.jpg

November 9, 1981 – October 17, 2010

One of the Twin Cities most beloved musical talents has passed away. Micheal “Eyedea” Larsen, a longtime Rhymesayer, singer, lyricist and fixture in the indie hip-hop scene died early this morning just a month shy of his 29th birthday.
Friends of Larsen said his mother, Kathy Averill, found him this morning.

“It is with great pain and sadness that I tell you my son Mikey (Eyedea) has passed away,” she wrote on his personal Facebook page. “At this time we kindly request your respect and our privacy as we process this devastating loss. On behalf of Mikey’s family, close friends and fans, thank you.”

Part of the Rhymesayers crew from its early days and a creative force to be reckoned with behind the mic, Eyedea painted beautiful and often abstract pictures with his lyrics, revealing the raw, serrated edges of emotion. He and his DJ, Abilities (a.k.a. Max Keltgen) were champions of their crafts and best friends since the age of 14.

Eyedea’s mom, with whom he was very close (and who also was like a second mother to Abilities) announced this afternoon a memorial fundraiser via Facebook.
