RJD2 @ 103 Harriet

https://i0.wp.com/1015.com/sites/default/files/rjzionflyerfront.jpg

RJD2 returns to San Francisco for this special engagement, playing a 4 turntable set of pure raw dancefloor magic!

Full Lineup:
RJD2
(Live Madness on 4 Turntables!)’
Rjd2’s music is a collage of cut-and-paste hip-hop that combines disparate elements to make for soulful, moody portraits of the world. His groundbreaking debut album featured classic hip hop instrumentals- “ghostwriter” (which samples Elliot smith) and “The Horror,” two incredible songs both ahead of their time and universally loved. He is an instrumentalist, a performer, and showman- his last few tours have seen him play his own music with a live band. This show, however, will feature his raw talent as a DJ- what he does best, playing on 4 turntables- that’s right… 4 TURNTABLES, turning out the crowd for an hour an half prime time. You just don’t get that anywhere else! He has produced for Copywrite, Company Flow, El-P, Aceylone, Charles Spano, and many more. After being signed to XL records, home of MIA, Radiohead, and The XX, he has made his own label and self released, finding a new territory to explore his sound.. yet Dead Ringer remains and has been heralded as one of the best underground hip hop albums of all time, melding dirty samples with a classic approach to song structure giving even Dj Shadow a run for his money. Don’t miss this legend perform his purest artform.

Zion I
(Live Performance)
Do they even need to be introduced? The biggest underground champions of hip hop in the bay have made it big- selling out the fillmore, independent, and many other venues in town. Backed up by some local legends (we won’t tell you who), this show will be ridiculously special- they are really going to go in on this one, as it might be the last Zion I show of 2011! This trio of genre-bender pride has made a name for itself on the Bay Area scene by successfully mixing spiritualism, hip-hop, and a party rocking vibe. Oakland’s MC Zumbi Zoom and DJ/producer Amp Live blend hip-hop and trip-hop beats with lyrics focused on intelligence and progressive living. After a couple of indie hits, the trio slowly made inroads while opening for rap royalty like De La Soul, Rakim, and Run-D.M.C. Their debut album, Mind Over Matter, was released in May of 2000 and features collaborations with fellow Bay Area rappers Rasco, Planet Asia, and the Grouch. Although Zion I operates out of Berkeley, the group was originally formed in Atlanta, making their music difficult to classify as strictly West Coast hip-hop. Their musical style makes them even harder to define. With a style that borrows from hip-hop, trance, drum’n’bass, and reggae, Zion I’s style is equally mystical and mystifying.

GoldenChyld
(SF Redbull Threestyle Champion)
GoldenChyld, of the Bangerz, Dj’s for a living- playing his own music around the world. This Bay Area giant was recently champion at the 2011 Redbull Threestyle event- crowning him king of Dj’s. And we hate to say this… but we aren’t sure if there is a better Dj in the Bay Area- from dancefloors to technical ability, come see this guy tear it up! Check out more at http://www.mixcrate.com/goldenchyld
Or his website, www.thebangerz.com.

Afrolicious
(Live experience with percussion and more!)
Senior Oz and and Pleasuremaker are two brothers that, every week, come to the Elbow Room and rock the crowd. Every week, hundreds of people lineup to see these boys deliver authentic sounds and moods from all over the world- they have hosted hundreds of live musicians over the past 5 years and they have really found the receipe in night life success- blending traditional music with djing, percussion and an all out party vibe. Remember, it’s not a show, it’s a party! These boys will be representing the funk all night.. so watch out! Joining them will be Mc Fresh Is Life, a few brilliant musicians and a new up and comer- Dj Izzy Wize!
