An upstart group of friends put forth by the fertile beat fields of Los Angeles, TeamSupreme delivers a fun and diverse glimpse into the collective creative mind through a commitment to artistic practice and self-challenge. Reflecting the rich D-I-Y spirit of the modern music industry, the group’s official release: TeamSupreme: Collection 1 (out Tuesday, January 29 on Alpha Pup Records) offers an immediate sense of the swirling spirit of innovation currently on the loose in the electronic arts community.

Listen to Djemba Djemba’s track “Yah Pop” from TeamSupreme: Collection 1 on Earmilk here.

Joining the members of TeamSupreme is Patrick Sexx (aka DNAE Beats), a prolific Bay Area beat producer who also has an upcoming release on Alpha Pup Records this spring. EFFIXX provides visual stimulationthis month and Low End Theory residents Daddy Kev, DJ Nobody, D-Styles and MC Nocando complete the lineup with innovative sets of the sickest electronic music and hip hop around.

Low End Theory San Francisco takes place the first Friday of every month at Mighty, located at 119 Utah Street and is 21+. Tickets are available at the door for $20, and the event runs from 10PM to 2AM.

Diamond D @ Mighty

MIGHTY, in association w/ the 45 Sessions, is happy to present a special DJ set by NYC Legendary/Grammy winning music producer, Diamond D.  Support from DJ Shortkut & DJ Platurn, hosted by Fran Boogie. Open bar first hour. Ticket’s available at eventbrite.com.

Veteran hip-hop producer Diamond D has helped out with several of rap music’s most acclaimed LPs, including A Tribe Called Quest’s The Low End Theory and the Fugees’ The Score. In 1992, he recorded his first solo album, the underground classic Stunts, Blunts & Hip-Hop. Although it never sold very many copies, it increased his status, and he worked with Illegal, House of Pain, KRS-One, and the Pharcyde during the mid-’90s. A host of top-flight rappers returned the favor for his sophomore album, Hatred, Passion & Infidelity, including Busta Rhymes, Phife Dawg (A Tribe Called Quest), and Pete Rock.

When it comes to spinning 45s, amongst “heads”, Diamond D is known for that. There aren’t many others that compare.  Peep some footage below.

Low End Theory San Francisco moves to the venue Mighty for the new year and kicks off 2013 with a stellar lineup: Bay-area turntable legend Q-Bert, Brainfeeder artists Teebs and Mono/Poly, along with residents Daddy Kev, DJ Nobody, D-Styles and Nocando. Thundercat’s performance has been postponed until a later date.

One of the most skilled scratch DJs in the world and original member of the Invisibl Skratch Piklz, Q-Bert offers a unique and exciting experience for fans of turntablism. With an inimitable style and rumble heavy sound, Q-bert has been named America’s Best DJ (2010), has won multiple world championships and is in the DMC DJ Hall of Fame.

A producer and visual artist with an ardent fan base, Teebs creates delicate and beautiful music, painting each track with a unique sound and character.
