Pacific Standard Time, Platurn Productions & Sony Classics present the official Bay Area Screening Kickoff Party for “Beats, Rhymes & Life” — the new documentary film about A Tribe Called Quest.
Join the PST Movement for a night of great music, amazing visuals, and probably more than a handful of Native Tongues classics. Filmmaker Michael Rapaport will be in the house, along with some VERY SPECIAL GUESTS.
DJ Platurn of the Oakland Faders makes his return to PST and not a moment too soon, as his A Tribe Called Quest mixtape is highly regarded among hip-hop heads worldwide. PST resident DJ Sake One (Local 1200) joins in the fun, along with our Conceirge Crew of Fran Boogie & Terril Jamon Douglas.
RSVP and arrive early for special gifts from Sony Classics, including “Beats, Rhymes & Life,” movie memorabilia, mixtapes and more. Stolichnaya Vodka provides $4 Stoli cocktails from 9-11pm!!
“BEATS, RHYMES & LIFE” NORTHERN CALIFORNIA DEBUT SCREENINGS ARE ON JULY 15, 2011 IN SF, BERKELEY, MOUNTAIN VIEW, PLEASANT HILL, SAN JOSÉ and SAUSALITO.

CALI LOVE
The Fresh Coast Experience
with DJ RHETTMATIC
On Saturday, June 18th we would like to invite you all to come spread CALI LOVE at SOM with DJs representin’ San Francisco and Los Angeles. DJs MR.E and BOOGIE BROWN on the decks reppin’ for the Bay and guest DJ from Los Angeles, representing the World Famous Beat Junkies, DJ RHETTMATIC.
CALI LOVE is spreading love from the Bay to LA and LA to the Bay, not just on a musical level but a social level. There is not rivalry in music – as we see it, music is universal. Expect to hear music from the The Pharcyde, N.W.A., Dilated Peoples, Snoop Dog to music from Nor Cal artists such as Souls of Mischief, Goapele, Too Short and San Quinn. With that said we intend on giving you the best of both worlds. We often forget that we all represent the Golden State only separated by a few hundred miles. It’s not where you are from, it’s where you’re at…CALIFORNIA. So let’s celebrate that CALI LOVE. From Northern to Southern California, love is the message!
This is a night of appreciation and celebration. 3 dope DJs, droppin’ nothing but the fresh shit…West Coast shit…the Fresh Coast experience.
