Rick Flare’s Cut The Check Record Release Party

The Good Look Movement was established by the late Rick Fairley aka Rick Flare aka Kwanza aka Dubstar Infamous of the San Francisco rap group Bored Stiff.  His vision was to create an organization where MC’s, DJ’s, promoters, and music companies, could all find a common ground to work together for the betterment of our Hip-Hop scene.  He knew the only way to combat our current “crabs in a barrel” syndrome, was to have everyone support each other and work together.

Unfortunately he didn’t live to see the release of his new solo album “Cut The Check.”  He died of a heart attack in his sleep on November 29, 2010.  The Good Look Movement will release this album and throw a big release party/showcase in his honor early 2011.  All profits will go to support his children and wife.

Rick Flare was the underground king that was never crowned.  His story as an artist began back in 1990. He started recording songs as Kwanza with what would later become the San Francisco based rap group Bored Stiff.  Together, they released independent albums and did shows through the United States and Europe through out the last 20 years. He was an incredible freestyle MC and commanded attention when on stage like a star. in 1995 he battled (and won) Method Man and Redman in front of Zebra Records on the Haight and Fillmore. A year or so later he scared Notorious Big off the stage (unintentionally) at The Sound Factory in 1996.  Stories of Rick Flare’s endevores are countless and full of greatness, determination, and often hilarious.   He will be remembered as a dedicated father, husband, performer, true hustler, and kind hearted gentleman.
